Nope I didn't. The pre op diet required to much mental fortitude to think about exercising.

Same. I kinda wished I'd at least don3 some walking. But truth be told, I was super tired and super stressed during the pre op diet (deaths in family, work, school year ending..just a lot of stuff)

I used my pre-op time to start developing better habits, including regular excercise. It helped with the walking that's required immediately post op (although to be fair, I felt like I was back at step one the whole first week). I think I moved forward faster because of it though!

I started exercising, and changing my dietary habits, well before the pre-op diet started.

However, during the actual pre-op diet, I was dealing with running my cat around to the emergency vet and other specialist vets because she suddenly went blind that week.

I recommend that you do what you need to do to keep yourself busy. If that's exercise - go for it! If it's a blind cat.. that works too! :)

Did your kitty ever get its sight back Gwen?

Oh yes! Thank you for asking. It turned out that she had an easily treatable high blood pressure issue that had caused her retina to detach. (Her pupils were HUGE - she looked like an anime kitty.)

She survived a few more years and saw me through my WLS and recovery. I think she was 17 or 18 when we had to say goodbye to her.

Good! I am glad she was able to see and enjoy her last few years with you.

It certainly couldn't hurt! Load up some music or an audiobook and go for a nice relaxing walk, rather than obsessing over the upcoming surgery :)

I started working with a personal trainer pre-op to develop a plan and do what I could - ride a recumbent bike, do some weights - I felt it really helped and I had a plan for post-op when I was cleared to exercise again.

Keep on losing!
