Fed up with eating

Does anyone else feel sort of "over it" when it comes to food? I worry so much about my nutrition, getting all the calories I need, the protein, the fiber, etc sometimes I wish I could just make it on protein shakes all day! Of course I know I can't do that, eating just feels like a chore! Even if I just do the same thing over and over again.

In the scheme of things, it's not a bad problem to have! Strange that something I used to covet has become just annoying and tedious.

Diet fatigue. Totally normal at 18 months out. The hard part is coming - stay the course :)

I am just shy of 5 years out and am totally over food most days. It's actually a nice problem to have!

Diet fatigue that's perfect. What I wouldn't give to just never need food to live at this point!

Yep. Very sick of planning and tracking it. Luckily my personality won't let me just say "screw it". I think one big annoyance I've found is that as I add more veggies it's hard to prep those so quickly. It's not just grabbing 3-4oz of cold chicken breast and throwing it in a container. I have to peel, cut, chop, cook, etc.

I remember loving how great it was when I threw a hard-boiled egg and 3oz of chicken breast in a container and that was breakfast and lunch for work. I wish I could do protein shakes but they have absolutely no satiety for me now, so that wouldn't even be a good thing!

I tend to eat a lot of raw veggies because I am lazy with cooking. Steamer bags are great too. For me it's not even the tracking. I actually enjoy tracking, I just hate having to put enough in me to survive lol. Some of it is because I still don't have my hunger back yet so I HAVE to make myself eat, or I just won't and then I am tired and sick and moody.

Well, I enjoy tracking too - to an obsessive level. My calories, macros, carbs, blood sugar numbers, weight, body fat percentage, calories burned during work outs, food weights. All these numbers literally never leave my head. If I wake up in the middle of the night my first thought is about how much I weigh or similar. I find it terribly mentally exhausting.

For me, hunger (of the mental variety) is omnipresent unless I'm really busy. I wi**** wasn't there, I'd be better off for it.

Oh wow, you aren't kidding about it being an obsessive level. That's so exhausting, I'm sorry your brain is in over drive like that all the time.

My hunger hasn't come back and my surgeon says it won't at this point - 5 years. So I eat by the clock. Five or six snack/meals a day of equal size. I just do it. Some days it sucks. Some days it doesn't. It's just like brushing my teeth - it's something I just do.

I wish I could eat raw veggies. I used to love them. But anymore, they give me so much pain and discomfort, I just can't do it anymore. Even a salad, if I eat more than a couple of bites, will give me gas, bloating, and diarrhea.

On the plus side, I'm religious when it comes to my vitamins, and for the most part stick to the proper eating plan. My numbers are good at 71/2 + years out, and even though I have about 15 to 20 pounds of regain to work on, I'm feeling good and doing well. I just wish sometimes that my reaction to sugar was as strong as my reaction to raw veggies!

Yes, I get that feeling often. I swear I feel more obsessed with food now than I ever did pre op simply because of the planning that goes into my daily menu. It's a healthier form of obsession, I guess? ( Better quality food and smaller quantities anyway. )

Before surgery, I'd just shove food into my mouth not caring about anything like nutrition value or macros. Now, I spend extra time reading labels, weighing and measuring, and making sure I get enough protein, and keeping my carbs low.

I woke up in between a memory and a dream...
