BED....who to approach?

Hello there.

I come here to kind of bear my soul a bit. It's hard for me to admit but I think I have an issue. Well I know I do.

I'm not sure who to talk to about BED. My psychiatrist or surgeons office?

I've talked about it before with an old doctor that brushed me off more than once. I was stupid and thought I could handle it...you know the old will power idea. I won't be seeing my new psych Dr for six more months. I will be seeing my case manager in July and i'll Talk to her about it and see about getting an earlier appointment.

I've been shamming myself for a long time and denial was big.

my blood sugars have been good and I haven't been eating as bad as I could be but i'm Super worried it'll get out of control. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

TY. You might benefit from talking to both professionals, especially your surgeon if his practice has many WLS patients.

Believe me I did Google it first. And yes Google is my good friend at times.

A google search of "what is BED?" showed the definition on the first response. The rest of the first page was all about BED.

I would also encourage you to talk to both your surgeons office and psychiatrist about it. Your surgeon will need to know so they can help you develop an effective treatment and from what I understand, frequent psychiatric visits are necessary for treatment as well. I know there are at least a few people on here who suffer from BED and I hope they comment.

For my part, I am sorry to hear you have been hit with this wamy of an eating disorder. It is easy enough to struggle with weight without BED, but with it is even worse. But you have already done the amazing first step of realizing and accepting that you have this issue, it is not your fault, and will power has nothing to do with it.

Best of luck :)

psychiatrist.

Then see a DS surgeon. I am pretty sure I have BED (didn't even know it was a thing when I had surgery). I've been able to maintain a 300 lbs. weight loss even with this issue.
