Hi it's been years since I posted here...

Long story short I had my lap band surgery in 2006 - never been very successful...had fills, unfills, tried many different things, I've thrown up and sip up for years and honestly I'm just tired of it!! I cant get eat solids a lot of times...even when I drink something hot. It's not worth the struggle....

Anyway, just wondering if anyone here is in the same situation? I am NOT knocking this surgery - it just has not worked for me!

My insurance no longer covers weight loss surgery so I'll be a self pay to have it removed. I live in Georgia and would love to hear from anyone in area that could recommend their surgeon.

Thank you all in advance

I'd suggest posting on the revision forum. There are LOTS of people who've had their bands removed!

I had lapband 11-12ish years ago. I had all the problems you mentioned. I ended up with emergency surgery to have it removed. It's a terrible surgery. Most surgeons will tell you so, and many will not even perform them. Maybe your insurance will pay for a revision? I had mine out long before I got the VSG, so I'm not sure about the revision process. I hope you can get some relief soon.

Very common story... revisions and complications are in the neighborhood of 50% now. there are 10's if not hundreds of thousands in your situation. I revised my band to bypass.

there are a ton of people on here who've revised, there are also more than 3,000 people in the failed lapband group on facebook. you may have success finding a surgeon in there with band removal/revisions in your state.
