I'm 7 months post-op and I have not made exercise a consistent part of my life yet. So I decided to create my own June fitness challenge. So far it's going great, but the thing I'm most excited about is that I've gotten my parents and sisters to commit to it with me! My mom and sister are especially in need of it and I'm so happy they are doing it. My sister said she's so grateful for the motivation and it's the first time she's been kind to her body in months.
I have also returned to daily meditation, which is hard for me but I feel good when I do it regularly!

I went back for my first personal training session since pre surgery. I had gotten the ok to start exercising for the 1st of June but was advised to go slow and really be cautious. I was and my trainer was just awesome about it. It just felt so good to exercise again even if it was super lightweight!

It's nice to get back at it, isn't it?

I climbed up two volcanic craters last week -- the first without huffing and puffing at all; and the second only huffing and puffing as much as the other people I was with (it was a beast with about 5 trillion stairs). Before, I would have found a reason to do something else on level ground and pretended I didn't want to see the top!

That's really fabulous!! Congrats on climbing to the top! It's a great feeling, isn't it? When I'm having to do a ton of walking/hiking, I always think "THIS is why I had surgery."
There's a Mayan temple in Belize I wasn't able to climb in 2011. I'm hoping to go back someday and finally climb that sucker-or at least try.

Today at the gym, I noticed that I'd done 2 miles on the elliptical in less than 20 minutes. I was listening to music with my earbuds and watching jeopardy on the TV (reading subtitles) and didn't even think about it.
About 6 months ago, 5 slow minutes on the elliptical left me hugging and puffing and jelly-legged
