Still checking off those WLS bucket list items after 14 years - VROOOOOOOOOM!
Check!
Never, ever would a 330 pound Kathy be able to do this. I did good! I didn't poop my pants, panic, run the car in the dirt or wall, didn't need a tow off the track and alive today to tell the tale. Never, ever give up on your dreams and appreciate the doors that our surgery opens for you

Hi Julie,
LOL, it was amazing! This is my son's thing and he arranged for his Mom to join him. I had a professional racer with me at all times (THANK YOU LORD). They take you in an area to purposely wipe out to learn how to control your spin outs. Growing up in the Midwest that is the first thing you learn to do in the snow and ice, so this girl had that covered. But when you are on that track MY OH MY. Someone asked me my speed and I said what speed I was just focusing on not crashing
It's wonderful isn't it what losing this weight does for us. Rollerskating is awesome too

Oh that's awesome!! Congrats!!
My husband actually races as a hobby ( not a pro, but he does okay ) and has been an instructor as well in that type of setting.
He's been trying to get me to drive race car since I lost the weight..but I'm too much of a weenie. I have been in the driver seat of his car ( a tiny little Miata )...but not driven it. ( I can't see over the dash, reach the pedals, or drive a stick shift-three strikes! ) Before surgery there was no way I could have even stuffed my butt into the racing seat. In fact, I didn't even really fit into the car before he modified it and it still had a passenger seat. I couldn't buckle my seat belt and was incredibly uncomfortable. It was a low moment for sure.
One day when I was just about a year out, he needed help with his car and he wanted me to climb in through the roll cage bars to get into the driver seat. I gave him the side eye, but I was able to climb in with no problems-except for being short..lol. It remains one of my favorite NSV's.
I woke up in between a memory and a dream...

I am pretty proud of myself. When we were done and the pro was evaluating me, he chose to share with me most group "A"'s panic and freak out....LOL I am glad he waited. This track is scary as you come up on a hill and can't see what is in front of you until you drop. You have to aim the front of the car at the marker to make the curve. I was to focused to freak.
I made the mistake of doing a ride along with my son and he freaked me out. His fastest was 155. I will stick with my driving miss daisy speed
