My detour

My Seminar was Feb 13 and I was looking forward to surgery sometime this summer when complications struck: I had difficulty getting a cardiac clearance! My congenitally abnormal EKG is now different than the 15-year old one that my PCP was using as baseline, and two trips to cardiology, a nuclear stress test and echocardiogram later, I had failed every cardiac text they gave me.

The next step was a cardiac catheterization. The plan was to find and fix any blockages, and insert stent(s) as needed. The protocol after a cardiac stent, however, is one year on blood thinners, and NO surgery during that time. I've been extremely disappointed and anxious over the past couple weeks, while thinking about this delay.

My cath was this morning, and after about an hour roaming around inside my arteries, the cardiac surgeon gave me the verdict: no blockages! No stents! Cardiac function is good, and he wrote my surgical clearance on the spot and faxed it to the WLS center.

I am tired, sore, and so happy! Next week, endoscopy and on June 11 I'll be done with nutritionist and we should be able to submit for insurance approval!

I think that qualifies as a miracle. Either way your health is what's most important. Glad it turned out how you wanted.
