I had a gastric bypass 3 days ago and when I got outta the hospital I weighed myself and I was 5 pounds heavier than before I went in. How's that possible?

Also when do I actually start losing weight?

Before my surgery, the nurse walked me down the hall to the scale. As soon as I got out of bed for my first walk after surgery she walked me back to the scale. It was up 19 pounds.

When the surgeon came in I asked why I had gained so much weight. He laughed and said it was from the fluids they pumped into me for surgery and that i would go home and pee it out.

It was gone in less than a week.

I was told not to weight myself for 2 weeks because of all the weight you gain through surgery. Was down 15 pounds after 2 weeks.
