I just had my first normal liver enzymes in over 3 years. Not totally uncommon after surgery

Three years? Do high enzymes cause any liver damage?

Glad all is well for you now.

I was told they can be elevated from surgery which creates inflammation. They were elevated but Slightly- I was told 'not liver disease elevated '

Wish I had a dollar for every WLSer who thought they had liver problems. I'd be rich! Weight loss is very hard on the liver, which is why you are not supposed to drink alcohol during weightloss.

The liver is a remarkable organ and recovers very well from the abuse of rapid weight loss.

I don't know a lot about intermittent fasting, but if it works for your body it works. Just be careful of that little keyword "until" like when you said "NO MORE chocolate, nuts, rice, fruit or granola until I'm back in the low 120s." Those are easy foods that are easy to eat more and more on! I know you said you don't have a good streak about logging, but you should try to anyway even if you miss some days here and there. Put a reminder on your phone to log if you need to.

Thank you! I haven't had time to step on the scale yet, hopefully Friday morning I will be there!

I want to see if intermittent fasting can take the place for logging for me, because I just don't see myself logging religiously long-term. I hate doing it and I want maintenance to be sustainable. Once I'm in the habit, intermittent fasting is easier than logging for me.

So can you explain how it takes the place of logging? Do you mean that you limit the window of time you can eat and therefore you can't eat an excess of calories in that time frame?

Yes, but also regularly not having an insulin spike for an extended period of time supposedly prevents some of the decrease in resting metabolism that happens with caloric restriction and reduces ghrelin release. As a plus, it also seems to increase the life span of lab rats and potentially prevents cancer through the autophagy process (which probably requires a few days of fasting in a row).
