Have you tried the gentle iron from Vitalady? Have you tried eating dried prunes? They help me when I get constipated. That iron is difficult stuff to take, that is for sure!!

A bariatric doctor told me to stop taking iron because it was constipating me. She said my labs were good so I did not need iron. What an idiot she was and what an idiot I was to listen to her! A year later I had iron deficiency anemia. And it took almost an entire year for me to fully recover.

Fast forward I've been taking my iron and I have to take so much that it constipates me terribly. So terribly that I end up with a hernia from the straining. So I began taking Magnesium Calm, a magnesium citrate formulation, as well as a capsule of magnesium glycinate, and one capsule of Super Aloe. These work well but are not perfect and I still had problems with constipation. I must be so full of sh*t because most people would be regular on these... chalk it up to the high MG of iron that I take daily.

I try different formulations of iron to see if there is something that won't constipate me. I settle on the multivitamin with iron patches. Well, I get anemia again while using them. This time I get iron infusions (2) and they make me VERY ill -- they cause oxidation in my body and I have terrible gastric inflammation from them.

The hem one tells me that I won't need to take iron after getting the infusions. BTW that was a two years ago and I am still paying the hospital bill.

So I am not about to let my iron levels drop again and end up getting more IV iron. I am trying just a multi with 45mg iron, which is far less than I was taking previously. More recently, my gastroenterologist prescribed Linzess to increase motility. It really cleans me out. It is wonderful not to be constipated FINALLY.
