Day Two of Pre-Op Diet

I'm almost through Day 2. I'm not getting surgery until June, but I've been slacking off and eating too much so I wanted to kick-start myself and get my motivation back. I'm only doing it for a week, and I talked to my nutritionist before I decided to do it.
My doctor's pre-op diet is 2-3 protein shakes and one meal of 3-4 oz of protein and vegetables. Plus broth, jello, etc.
Basically I want to prove to myself I can do it, and kick-start myself so I can get back to the important business of losing as much as I can PRE-surgery.
My sleeve-sister is doing it with me.
So far we're both feeling pretty good, but again, it's only day 2. (that's bone broth)
Good luck! I lost almost 1/3 of my weight pre-op (over 4 months) because I was determined to be successful. I did it by reducing portion size, eating lots of veggies to fill up, reducing simple carbs like bread, eliminating alcohol, and getting rid of the snacking. So I was not on the pre-op or Post-op diet but I had greatly reduced calories.

I also spent my six-month supervised diet gradually transitioning into what I would be eating post-op. Reduced calories (2300 limit for me - I was used to eating 3000-ish), gradually reducing carbs and coming up on protein, eating protein first, weaning myself off caffeine and carbonated beverages, not drinking with eating, etc. I think it really helped with the transition. It wasn't nearly as drastic as it might have been otherwise.

My program had a lot of focus on changing eating habit pre-op but outside of one day of liquids only and one day of clear liquids only really didn't have a pre-op diet. I can't imagine what the liquid diet would have felt like with all my pre-op hunger cues so I am a bit in awe of all those who have successfully done the strict prep programs! Good luck to you and your friend, I'm sure you guys will do great!

I had my surgery in March 2014 and in January 2014 I started swapping out the meals I ate alone (breakfast and lunch most days) for protein shakes and being more mindful of what I was eating at dinner.
This worked really well for me during those two months and I feel that it helped me to get my brain in the game.

Per my nutritionist, I also need to give up coffee at least a month before surgery...so May 1st is my goal for that. I don't drink that much, one or two cups in the morning, black. But...my favorite protein drinks are Chike and Click, blended in my Ninja with lots of ice and a couple cups of almond milk. BOTH with 2 shots of espresso per serving.

It's probably scary how excited I was the day I was able to have coffee again -- even if it was cafe au lait. This week a took a hint from the menu thread and started mixing my coffee with premier protein and that's awesome too.

I gave up coffee for a few months prior to surgery (phased in the elimination over a couple of weeks). I didn't re-start coffee until maybe 6 months post-op, and now I have to several cups every morning and sometimes decaf later in the day if I'm feeling snacky. It has become one of my favorite drinks!
