Raytheon UHC Insurance Approvals

I have just recently had my first consultation. The UHC insurance set me up with an Optum nurse that told me to contact any MDs I have seen in the past year and get notes - that if they mentioned diet and exercise, weight loss with my height, weight and BMI that I can use them toward my 6 month supervised physician diet. I have 4 notes so only have to see a MD for 2 more months and will be able to submit for approval. Anyone else dealt with Raytheon UHC? Did you have any hassles?

I have UHC and also worked with the optum bari nurse and I found it much easier than expected. The nurse actually let me know I was approved about a week before the formal communication did!

yep, same experience. The UHC Optum nurse told me the same thing. I had already had 5 documented visits with my PCP regarding weight loss within the last 5 years, so he filled out the form they emailed me with the dates and then I just had to see him once more. It was pretty easy! I was glad I didnt have to start from scratch on the 6 months supervised diet because I had tried MANY of them over the last few years without success...obviously why I needed to have surgery!

That's eactly what I thought ---Im 52 years old I'VE LITERALLY TRIED EVERY THING lol.

I can lose 40-50 lbs by eating 500 calories a day and working out everyday but if I let up it comes right back. And to lose 40-50 takes me about 9 months.

But the Optim nurse told me I could only use MD notes back to Jan 2017 :(

that stinks, they told me anything within the last 5 years counted toward my 6 visits. I probably had other doctors visits I could've used but it was more convenient for me to just see my PCP.

I had UHC with my company - same program with Optum nurse and 6 month requirement. I was able to use 3 months with my PCP and 3 with my WLS surgeon. NO hassles in getting approval!
