How much time did you take off work?

I had a desk job with a 1.5 hour commute each way. I took 2 weeks off, then worked from home for 2 weeks. I probably could have begun working from home in one week, but having 4 weeks at home helped me to establish my eating, drinking, vitamin habits, and gain more energy before I had to deal with the office. I think I could have gone to the office in 2 weeks if I had to, but would have been exhausted after the long commute on top of the office time.

Nice! Thanks for the responses. I know I am definitely taking two but leaning towards 3. My job is flexible and I can always go in sooner if I feel up to it or just start a few days a week. Thanks!!

I took two weeks off and it was plenty for the physical adjustment. I felt like the aspect of learning to live with new food guidelines was far harder.

I was originally scheduled to have 2 weeks off, but my Dr extended it to 3 weeks. Looking back on it, I wish I would have taken 4 weeks. My job is pretty stressful and requires high energy. I struggled to make it through the day, and my long commute was a challenge. I would say take as much time as your Dr and job allows. Good luck!

My surgeon gave me 2-4, I went back after 2 and after one day had to take a third week off. It takes some time, I would plan on more and go back earlier if you feel good. We are all different but this takes it out of you for a few weeks. I napped every day foe the first two months.

I was retired so I didn't need to take off work. I had a couple of c-sections, two carpal tunnel, tummy tuck, foot surgery, all without complication. I was back working in a factory 3 weeks after a c-section. But...the RNY was different for me. I was walking over 2 miles while in the hospital for 2 days. I was riding my bike after one week. But my endurance and intensity really suffered. I was operating at about a 20-30% energy level. I needed naps everday. I'm not sure if it is because of my age, the fact that the operation was on some major organs, or the low calorie diet after surgery, but I probably would not have gone back to work for 3 weeks.

I got 8 weeks and was highly grateful for the first 6. I'm a cheap date to anesthesia and just struggled to get my head out of the clouds so I could concentrate.

I took three days off but based on others' responses here, is highly unusual. I hated lying around, felt good, and was happy to go back to work.
