By the same nurse that gave you the bad time? holy ****e! I hope you gave her the what-for.

Yep, same nurse. After my ulcer convo with her, I think she may have finally understood that I'm more well informed than the majority of her post-ops.

I woke up in between a memory and a dream...

Some of the worst advice I've seen comes from WLS patients who are a few months out and know it all. "It worked for me, so it must apply to EVERYBODY!"

Highlights include:

  • It's totally OK to drink wine after surgery. "Everything in moderation," right?
  • You can break a stall by eating a candy bar, or by increasing your calories, because "starvation mode" is totally a thing.
  • Vitamins are completely unnecessary. "My labs are fine at 6 months out and supplements are a waste of money!"
  • Genepro protein is a great way to hit your minimums! (No, it's not. It's physically impossible to get that much protein in such a small volume. It's a scam!)
  • You can eat whatever you like, including popcorn and tacos, in the first few weeks immediately after surgery. Just chew it really well and you'll be fine!

Don't forget that KFC bowls are a great choice for the car ride home from surgery.

What? Was that someone's real advice? Oh my goodness. I feel bad for them, honestly. How did they even want to eat that? After my surgery I didn't want anything at all. I couldn't stomach much at first anyway!

Not advice, but more of a checking in post and stating she had a KFC bowl. She thought it was perfectly fine.

The resulting thread started out yikes and got yikesier.

The thought of a KFC bowl still makes me queasy.
