Thank you very much for all the tips! We just bought the cast iron pan on Sunday! Yesterday was the first time using it. Bought it 2nd hand shop in my town for 25 dollars... perfect condition bottom brand is lodge! Not sure if that was a deal or not but a nice one. Washed it good since it was used but looked new and great bshspe. My husband had been looking for one for while. I will have to get it seasoned now! Maybe after cooking some steaks it will help it a long! :)

I have never done a steak on a stove top. Thinking of trying your recipe and doing In the cast iron pan... if I bought a filet or rib eye how long would you cook each side?

Thanks Valerie!

I usually start with a good hot pan and start with 2.5-3 min per side and check for doneness

Great I am going to try it. I rarely cook steak (even in oven) as I feel it is never as good as steak I have had out... probably how I am seasoning it.

Valerie I made this tonight... came out great! Loved the seasoning and the taste it gave the meat. Only thing is I need to get a better steak. I got NY strip tenderloin without the tail ... (what the label said!) $11.80 for 2 steaks. I asked the butcher which was better this or 2 Club steaks for $20, he said equal he as good he felt. So I got the cheaper. I love filet mignon when I have steak out, to me this steak was not as good. This steak had too much fat surrounding it and I really get grossed out if I eat the fat! I will try again with a filet maybe. I can see the grill being awesome for this recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Now, I love the fat, but also not a fan of NY strip either. Our me down for a filet or Robert (crap...Ribeye - darned autocorrect!) myself, and that seasoning is fantastic with it.

You eat the fat surrounding the meat? I never have, it is a texture problem for me! I guess that is why I like a filet mignon.

I feel ignorant to ask, what is a Robert? Forgive me , Lol ... ;)

LOLOL darn new phone and auto-correct. I still have to teach it my favorite cuss words, too. I fixed that, but kept Robert for comic effect and to make your question make sense
