Drugs, addiction to excess food and the new generation

I'm 28. No one I grew up with, know now, or then did illegal drugs. The ones that did socialized in their own small circles, circles most people didn't want any part of. I have never done drugs, or even smoked cigarettes and I definitely never plan to and in no place would I want to talk about how it should be OK to do them. That being said, I try to look at their addiction as just that, an addiction, and I want them to get the help they need to fight it. In no way do I condone, or support their life, just like I wouldn't support a life of food addiction. Never did even when I was almost 500 lbs since I know how miserable it can be.

Please do not think that the use of drugs between you and your friends when you were that young was normal, because it really isn't. If anything, the horrible effects of drugs on the body are more well known now for the current generation and my generation. It would take complete lack of care for yourself and/or complete ignorance and lets face it, complete ignorance in this day and age is next to impossible.

Mershmellow I know you mean well but I do I beg to differ. I never said i used drugs routinely growing up ... but i do think MOST kids or at least attractive female kids get offered them EVERY day starting maybe in t he fourth grade .

That is just how it is . I?m sure you too were offered plenty .. and I commend you for not falling for the temptation.

I didn't even know it was changed. I assumed that was her actual comment. I will guess it was something about me not being attractive enough then lol

If anything, she's jealous of you because you are actually young, intelligent, graceful and kind-hearted. Those are all things that make you infinitely beautiful.

The first time anyone offered me drugs was when I was in graduate school, at a game of Dungeons & Dragons. I was 26.

Most of my close friends are in a similar position.

I always thought NYC and LA were the exceptions ... and flyover country was relatively safe for kids growing up drug wise . But statistics and a number of TV shows demonstrate the naïveté in that .. the fact is kids are TOTALLY bored and looking for trouble all over the country and are finding it in fast food restaurants, alcohol shops and illegal drugs .

A five hundred lb kid is an addict... what did you do since you got your surgery ?
