Hi.... I NEED YOUR HELP! I have a consumer that currently weighs 669 pounds (has lost 50 since 1/29), and is in need skill nursing in Louisiana or surrounding areas. I have called so many facilities and keep getting sane response, "can't accommodate". I just need to know if ANYONE know of a skill nursing facility that will accommodate near Louisiana.

Thanks

Sadly I don't know of any facility in your state. It's hard enough to find a surgeon to do weight loss surgery in your state. There is only one facility I know of in NY, Brookhaven Rehab. While I understand you can't travel there give them a call and they may know of other facilities that provide the services needed closer to you.

Have you contacted Dr. Nowzaradan in Houston TX? He specializes in weight loss surgery for those that are over 600 pounds. Perhaps his office will know of some facilities.

The home page for this network of facilities says that some of their homes can accommodate bariatric patients:

http://www.paramounthealthcareconsultants.com/

This website lists homes and providers who can work with SMO patients. Looks like there are lots in Louisiana!

You can also run a search on the homepage for the Louisiana Nursing Home Association. Click "advanced search," and they have a check-box for "bariatric care."

Hope this helps!

Google "homecare agencies in Louisiana" several listing come up. Also your local health department can provide you with a list. There is also a website which I'll try and cut n paste below. Unfortunately the list the health department provides doesn't differentiate between non skilled and skilled home health facilities. Non skilled are self pay, and skilled are physician ordered and will accept insurances. Hope this helps a little.
