Not everyone has the funds for out of pocket or a relative to borrow from, so perhaps that is a factor?

Yes, looking through the OP's previous posts to refresh my memory, this seems to be a deterrent to Mexico.

Costs vary from state to state, unclear what it would cost in the OP's state.

In Iowa I divorced my first husband for less than $200. We had no kids, lived in a rented apartment, and had no other jointly owned property, so we literally just filed the paperwork, then paid for the official decree.

Not piping in with any better suggestions, just saying that if she were to truely get married just for insurance purposes, they likely won't need to run up mu*****ourt costs to dissolve it later. I agree though, that it's still not a great idea.

I know that too well..But the divorce was worth every penny I spent on that.

You brought me back to a sick movie in the 1980s of two gynecologist brothers who were mad men with their sick instruments! I went with my girl friend to see it and after the movie was driving on a windy parkway and she has a metal fork hanging out in her pocket book and decided to scratch my hand with it! I almost crashed!

What?! So, run an add: seeking person with excellent medical coverage for WLS. Everything else negotiable.
