Allergic to Premier Protein?
Has any one else had an issue with Premier Protein? I bought a case at Costco to see how it was and have been having one daily just to get into the swing of things, but i've developed a red, sore, mildly itchy area just around the centre-top area of my upper lip. I've never had an issue with protein shakes before, but i've never done pre mixed or the Premier Protein brand.
From my research it seems that whey allergies are not uncommon. I'm going to return what's left of the case tomorrow, and try a powder instead. I'm crossing my fingers that it's just something about that brand.
***UPDATE***
I haven't had the Premier in about a week and my lip is doing much better. I've switched to a different brand powder, so I'm guessing its not the whey. Might have been something in the ready to drink or as was suggested, something with the packaging. At any rate, the powder is cheaper than the premier anyway, so I'll probably just stick with that.

Interesting, I will give that a try and see if it helps!

Whey (all whey) protein gives me horrible gas and diarrhea. I found egg protein to be more tolerable, but I really used my experience as motivation to get my protein from food as fast as possible. Be eating strategically, I could eat 100g with real food by the time I was about 6 months post op.
Here's something else disturbing about protein drinks I just saw today:

I am incredibly skeptical about this. "Detectable levels" of a substance is a FAR cry from a level that can cause harm.

Hi Janet,
The only place I can get Premier Protein where I live is Costco, so a case (18 pack) was my only option. I get what you are saying though. If you don't mind me asking, how did you find your tastes changed? I've seen a lot of people who say that, but I don't fully understand what they mean. Could you give me a few examples?
Erin
