So exhausted
i try and walk every chance I get and get sharp pains in my left side. But the hardest part is being exhausted I can fall asleep so fast now, I'm on clear liquid diet didn't know I would be this sleepy... I know it's major surgery but I thought I could take care of my son a little better.
This tiredness ( its because your body is devoting its energies to healing inside ) will go on for at least 8 weeks ( sorry to give you bad news)
Is your child old enough to understand that Mommy?s going through something serious and they need to do their part by being quiet, undemanding and supportive ?
Many kids are GREAT cheerleaders and mommy-supporters and helpers.
Let him help you if he can
He is a good helper but sometimes he needs me to be like how I was and it's hard and he's 8 , he sort of understands. He understands more than my husband
You are only 5 days out, so that is not unusual. My mom took care of my kids for 2 weeks while I rested and got my strength back. I returned to work after 2 weeks, but I was pretty much exhausted until the 6 month mark.

I hope I get to go back to work soon I'm in pain so I don't want to but at the same time resting is hard for me
5 dat s is really new, and it IS major surgery. I was still taking an extra nap a few months after surgery.
It gets better, really.

My son was only 11 months when I had my surgery so I napped when he did and went to bed earlier than usual at night too. I actually found that the more I filled my day, shopping, walking him around the neighbourhood etc, the better I felt.
Don't know how old your son is but think in your case, like mine, it's needs must. Find small activities you can do with him so he's happier to play on his own and give you some quiet time maybe?

Megan, sorry you are not feeling well. It is normal at your stage. Do you still have the low grade fever you mentioned yesterday? If so maybe call the doctor tomorrow. Like Laura mentioned, I too was extremely exhausted for the first 6 months and I did not go back to work for 4 weeks. My girls were 6 and 4 when I had my surgery. They went to school and preschool, luckily old enough for that so I could rest a bit those first couple weeks. My husband is amazing and did a lot. My Mom was not local. Hopefully your Mom or boy friend can help? How old is your son? Hang in there and keep drinking your water. Call the doctor tomorrow if fever is still lingering.
