I just had surgery
I hope it will especially inspire my dad who has type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease on top of all that has been smoking since 13! And will not change his diet.
Person who is not willing to change a diet plus smokes - things like that may disqualify him even if he was given opportunity to have WLS.
IMO- any WLS surgery only works long term if the person change his/hers eating habits and lifestyle. Many people who thought that they can eat as they did before WLS just smaller amounts regained weight. Long term post op RNY- If I am not carful I start gaining weight, and can gain rather quickly.

"Failure is not falling down, It is not getting up once you fell... So pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again...."
I don't think he wants to change he has tried to stop soo many times..he can't do it if he's not willing to change
Congrats!
be prepared for mixed reactions to your improving health, including jealousy and sabotage (food pushing, telling you you're too thin, etc) which is common when your "support system" isn't supportive.
