I hope it will especially inspire my dad who has type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease on top of all that has been smoking since 13! And will not change his diet.

Person who is not willing to change a diet plus smokes - things like that may disqualify him even if he was given opportunity to have WLS.

IMO- any WLS surgery only works long term if the person change his/hers eating habits and lifestyle. Many people who thought that they can eat as they did before WLS just smaller amounts regained weight. Long term post op RNY- If I am not carful I start gaining weight, and can gain rather quickly.

I don't think he wants to change he has tried to stop soo many times..he can't do it if he's not willing to change

be prepared for mixed reactions to your improving health, including jealousy and sabotage (food pushing, telling you you're too thin, etc) which is common when your "support system" isn't supportive.

My husband is already so skinny but my parents are overweight I hope they wouldn't make me feel that way

Good Mom you have .... stick with your child no matter what and respect their decisions. (Within reason!). Husband too!

I had my surgery in May 2008, I believe I was in the hospital 2 or 3 nights... (I think that is your question?? ). hard to remember as long time ago and I wish I had written down my experience back then but I did not....
