I am single as well and I had surgery on wednesday; my sister came and stayed until Sunday morning and I a was so grateful to have her -- between the anesthesia hangover and the pain meds, I was just brain-stupid and emotional and so she was able to take care of things that I wasn't. Outside of that, as long as you have your first couple of days/week of supplies stocked up, I think you'd be ok! I have a 20lb lifting restriction and still finding myself needing to nap but I've done ok solo.

You'll need a ride home from the hospital. Aside from that, I really feel you'll be better off alone. You don't have to worry about other people's food, or hovering.

There are lifting restrictions, usually ten pounds for 6 weeks, but you'll be able to do everything else for yourself.
