I atarted to gain waweight from 1 to 2 lbs. now up 6 lbs. I need motivation so I'm back. I know exactly what I need to do like most of us but can't seem to get in the grove. nightime nibbling is a big problem. when I start with one thing it just goes on. With the cold weather I stopped walking. I've gotton a few days in last week. Just came on to give account for myself. celebrated 3 yrs. dec. and started eating a little too much day after day. and more junk and sugrary stuff that I hadn't done. so here I am. to get back ion track...
First and foremost, the attitude you have is what makes you feel like a failure. You ARE NOT a failure! You did Gastric Bypass to lose the weight and improve your health! That's why most of us do it, not to look cute in the latest fashions or latest hair styles! You probably are eating out of boredom, but you are the one person who can change this! You should try to go back to what you ate in the beginning. Worry about getting in the required amount of Protein, Vegetables and water. If you spend more time worrying about that and keeping a daily count of your protein and vegetable intake, you will have less time to be bored. Also since you don't care for exercise, how about walking. A daily walk thru the neighborhood is a good start and increase it as you get used to doing it. I'm 59 years old, I have a lot of medical issues. They are new issues, not the same ones I had at 319 pounds. I no longer have Sleep Apnea, High Blood Pressure nor Diabetes. In 2014 at a routine doctors visit I found out that I had blood clots from my knee to my belly button. I had to have emergency surgery that left my right leg numb from the knee down to my toes. I spent 3 months on bed rest, lost my job and lost 60 pounds during that time. I walk with a cane, that's never going to change. I still walk my granddaughter home from School every school day. Its 6 blocks there and 6 blocks back. I had open Roux-en-Y gastric bypass in August 2003. At that time insurance companies considered laparoscopic experimental. I have a scare from my belly button to my breast bone as a constant reminder of my surgery. It keeps me in check so to speak. Have I ever regained, yes indeed I have. I regained 50 pounds over a few years when my job changed owners and the way we did things. I gained that weight from stress eating and a few glasses of wine each night. I lost it when I got sick. Try to start with little changes, don't try to do everything at once. Go for a walk even if its only one block to start. I have steps in our town home going up to the bathroom and bedrooms. Also going downstairs to the basement. That has been great in helping me with exercise, since I don't care for routine exercising either. Good luck on your journey.
