If OH was all hand holding and head patting we'd all be fat again in no time.
But a little hand holding and some koombayah is always good too! Lol

I have been on OH literally almost every day for 10 years. Once the stupid OH "surgery wars" of the mid/late 2000s ended, I have not personally felt anything other than love and support (and I think most people feel that same way).
Tips and tricks for not getting piled on:
- If you ask for advice--consider it, and don't argue that you already know the answer.
- Don't tell people that your irresponsible choices are okay for everyone, just because you are ok, so far.
- Don't pick a fight by inciting a controversial topic, just for the fun of watching people explode.
- Avoid excessive humble bragging.
- Don't deny science.
Oddly enough, I never got piled on.......It bothered me to see what I felt were vulnerable people ( interpretation) being piled on. I stepped back and watched for a long time and realized that I was perhaps a little too sensitive to things being said as some of the advice that was offered would help me....yet....I was in denial as to what I needed to correct my situation. My biggest challenge continues to be our busy lifestyle and moving away from weighing/planning/journaling. I am also very private to friends and coworkers as to WLS. Most think that I eat healthy and go to the gym and live a healthy lifestyle. I think they feel it is easy...so I have no one to talk too about the challenges, I will use this Forum as a student and if I can a mentor, I am not yet ready for the latter.

Let's not forget: fat and sick.
I wanted to gain some weight. I started eating off plan and drinking too much beer.
Yesterday I finally realized that if a good friend would send me a telegram it would read:
"Congratulations on gaining weight. Stop. Seriously Stop."
I am back to no more off plan eating. I gained weight and some of it is muscles (I have a butt real ass). And I have enough reserves. 5 lbs more than I planned to have. But it is so difficult to stop the carbs and the grazing. I have been doing that for a close to a year.
But now is the end of the free range RnY. Back to basics, proteins, fat and veggies. No more beer, unrestricted nuts, cheese and apples.
I think just stopping beer should help. Step one.

Funny you mention beer, I love to socialize. We have many brew pubs in our area with live music on weekends. I have not had a drink since NYE. Last weekend we went to the Thousand islands in NY and went to several vineyards and breweries, I did not have a drink, I was the DD!!!!! I have lost 9.7 pounds since 01/02.
Good job cutting the beer.

Glad to see you back! I know I'm starting to slip when I think that I don't need to go back and "fix" MFP to reflect what I ACTUALLY ate - or worse, if I don't log at all!
