Lots of people love them. But lots of us found that all of the ready to drink flavors were horrible. There are hundreds more choices for the powdered whey as well.

Premier is my favorite, but only the chocolate. If it's caramel or vanilla, I use it as coffee creamer.

I've tried the Quest, Lean Shake Burn, and Syntrax flavors and I still prefer RTD. The fuzzy navel Syntrax is nice and fruity, if you're looking for something outside of the chocolate/vanilla/strawberry arena.

I've found all of them to be gross and making my own shake from powder and almond milk is super easy in a blender bottle (the bottles with the whisk balls in them).

My go to is Optimum Nutrition double rich chocolate. It's the best of the chocolates for me because it's a darker chocolate so doesn't taste as sickeningly sweet as many do. I tend to mix it with a little bit of Syntrax mint chocolate cookie. 1 scoop of the chocolate, 1/2 scoop of the mint, 8 ounces of unsweetened original flavor almond milk. (Plus other stuff like benefiber, magnesium citrate, and miralax.)

Thanks Gwen! Sounds good ... being almost 10 years out (May) I have not bought a tub of protein powder in many years. I was wondering the other day in the pharmacy which was good. I am going to buy this! Maybe both flavors you mention. Sounds yummy. I also don't care for the ready made drinks but have used the muscle milks premade when I need something to hold me over until morning or between meals. Premier Protein while I did not mind taste they made me have gas! Muscle Milk did not. For muscle milk I would buy the 100 calorie 20 grams of protein. Although it is not whey protein so not sure as good? It is ok tasting, not great.

I have bought tons of different brands, GNC wheybolic is great, Ghost protein, dymatize, pure protein, In all that time I have only returned 1 to GNC. It was quest vanilla ice cream. Also one from vitamin shop that had carbs and weird spirluina in it = tasted disgusting to me

if you buy from gnc and don't like it, you can return

I like the premier Banana Cream. I can only find it at Walmart. I also like the the dark chocolate (EAS or Atkins) over the milk chocolate. I do get tired of them after a while and switch to the Carb Control yogurt type shakes.

I'm glad you posted this so I have more options when I get tired of these :).

I'm really keen on the Kaizen brand of Whey Protein Isolate from Costco. 2kg tub, usually $49.99 (sometimes $55.99) Canadian Funds. Some have complained it is too sweet (stevia) but I always bump up the water content and make it with 20-24 oz and just sip away at it anyway. The clinic NUT and doctor didn't mind that approach at all, as long as I didn't chug away, which I can't really do anyway because of the pouch. It's a way to get a little extra water in as well in addition to the regular water I drink daily. Gluten free, non GMO. Lots of stuff to like.

35g protein, 1g sugar and 3g carbs, 150 calories per scoop (serving). Those are the big numbers most care about.

The others that kinda matter more to the weightlifters are:

5.9 glutamine & precursors (not entirely 100% on why that's important, but maybe somebody can shed some light on that)

8.1g BCAA's (Branch Chain Amino Acids) which is also very good.

Hope that gobbledegook helps.
