Omg i would NEVER do that . My ex husband and I connected because of our WLS. He was liar a deadbeat a cheapskate ... not to mention sexually revolting and violent. Thank God i got away from the b...d.

I have used online dating sites. I do not put my surgery out there. It is not a topic of discussion. It can be discussed when thinking about a serious commitment. Otherwise it none of their business.

Just be yourself and enjoy your dates.

Grim and Juniper Berry are a sweet story, but there used to be a lot of creepers on here. It was like you needed a bleach bath every time you came here. Thankfully those days appear to be over.

When I was single I had no interest in dating other WLSers because they'd had surgery, just as I wouldn't find a tonsillectomy a defining factor. WLS doesn't define me as a person, and at 13 years out, has nothing to do with my relationship with my partner.

We are pretty sweet, haha. But I agree...if I ever thought that someone might be trolling to meet me here...So. Much. Ew!

Anyway, I feel very grateful to have found a great person and it is absolutely a bonus that we share this big aspect of our lives together. He gets why I feel super frustrated over every ounce on the scale, and he is patient with me when I can't eat, or when I am super head-hungry, and he always supports my desire to get healthy and stay on track. We share a lot of friends in common because of this site, and it's nice to have a baseline shared vocabulary and shared experiences.

But if that was ALL we shared in common, it would be a pretty hollow relationship. We are together because we are 1000% compatible in all the other important ways.

If I am ever on the market again (god, please no!), I don't think I would look for a fellow WLSer, but I sure am happy that I have one, now!

Yep, totally agree. I am not my weight loss surgery any more than I am my knee surgery. I wouldn't feel the need to explain those scars, or my c section scars. Lots of women have "mommy makeovers" which leave them with the same scars as panniculectomies. Finding someone compatible is hard enough with a wide open field. I wouldn't recommend narrowing it based on something like a surgery or medical issue.

I personally would NEVER use a dating site. Too many nut jobs out there and I am pretty happy with me, myself and I and my fur babies, grand babies But I know a lot of people that won't take that next step and date after weight loss surgery and was wondering if they felt these would be an option.

Thanks for your thoughts on this
