Did you make any posts on social media to anounce that you're having wls? If so what did you post?

I made a status on Facebook a week before surgery. I blocked everyone from it except close family and friends.

I only told my closest family and friends originally. I decided I would announce it after my 6-month check in with my surgeon, because I wanted it to be a surprise for everyone else. I did post on FB then and let everyone know I'd had surgery and posted a pic. Did it cause some waves!! LOL It was awesome, though...at least for me. Nothing but support and praise for taking positive steps to finally do something about my weight and health. Never looked back!

I never hid my surgery and anyone who was seeing me in person knew about it. Those that I have on social media but don't see in person certainly saw in my pictures that I had lost. I made a post at 1 year. By that point I'd been at goal for 6 months.

Nope. Nor did I post to announce my thyroidectomy, the result of my Pap smear, mammogram or any other medical procedures I undergo. I just prefer to keep my medical details private.

WLS carries. Lot of opinions and misinformation. Know that once you tell you can't Untell.

Since I choose to not share about my decision I also don't share my weight, progress pics etc on social media; I do that here. Sure I upload photos and people have noticed a difference, no one has asked how I lost weight.

I do share about my activity and fitness- cause I hope it inspires other to do so for themselves.

I feel kind of like I should say something because it will be obvious. Ive been fat my whole life and wiegh 425 right now. I think they will notice. Wont it be weird if I dont say anything?

You are feeling the need to explain yourself to others. Did you explain how/why you are 425#'s?

i weighed 337#. I weigh 200 now. People notice- it's not awkward for me- this is my new normal. They have to adjust to me, its not my job to help them do that.

Do what makes you happy, not what you think others deserve to see here.

Sure, it might be weird if you don't say anything. Think about what you'll say when people do notice/ask, since invariably they will. It's good to have a script in your brain so you know how you're going to reply ahead of time.

If you want to share, share. (Just please don't lie!) I waited until after because of the reason I mentioned in my reply and also since I didn't want to deal with anyone trying to talk me out of it. Not that they COULD talk me out of it, I just didn't want to be annoyed with people and possibly lose friendships because they felt they had to try to talk me out of it :P
