Knee Pain

I have pain in the back of my left knee. The knee is not bone to bone. I do have some osteoarthritis

I think it may be caused by my spine.

What tests can tell me if the pain in my knee is caused by my back?

Thanks

Your best bet would be to see an orthopedist.

Certainly see a doctor as soon as you can. If the pain is "shooting" from your hip or low back to your leg, it may be from your back, but if it is localized, it could be something internally within the knee. Odds are, they will start with a knee x-ray to determine if there is a problem in the knee, itself. If the knee x-ray is negative, then, the doctor will move to other tests.

Keep on losing!

Your best bet is to contact your PCP and ask them for a referral for a sports/orthopedics specialist. Good Luck to you

Definitely see a doctor. I've had arthritis in my knee for 50 years and when I get pressure on the back of my knee for me it's water on the knee. I say pressure because it really isn't pain. You can absolutely have knee pain from back problems. That's why you need a doctor, not the internet. Probably an xray to start.

I have had surgeries on both my knee and spine.

I had a leg circulation sonogram yesterday. I think I am good there. I'll pickup a copy of the report tomorrow.

I have 2 appointments scheduled for my knee. Xrays do not show much. I'll ask for an MRI. I'll also ask about the spine as the possible cause of the knee pain.

I had a spine exam recently. I may be going back to my spine doctor after my knee appointments.

I have to do something as the pain is so great walking is very limited.

I'll post any updates.

It turned out the pain was in my knee from mostly arthritis . I had a geniculate RF nerve block done 6/25/2018. It takes 4 weeks for max benefit. So far so good.
