Health insurance incentive programs

My new health insurance company has an incentive program. I can wear an activity tracker and earn up to $1000 per year in FSA (or HSA) dollars through good movement habits. Sadly they don't partner with the tracker I already wear, but they offer credit when you enroll and that credit covers the cost of a clip-on tracker that I'll try to get into the habit of clipping on. It seems like a nifty program and, hey, "free" money.

Have any of you participated in such a program? How did it work out? Was it annoying? Was it worth the effort?

Nice! Who do you have? I'll have to check my BCBS plan! I've not seen that, but I do take advantage of their program HealthWays Fitness Your Way, its $25 a month for memberships at every LA Fitness, Golds, Anytime and most Planet Fitness and a handful of other local gyms in each area, across the entire country. I love it

Blue Cross, at least around here, gives credit for races which seems pretty spiffy. I've got UHC.

We just started with UHC as of January 1. Could you tell me where you found this info? I will go into my online account and see what I can find. This would be great!

I found the info here https://www.uhc.com/employer/programs-tools/for-employees/un itedhealthcare-motion

Thanks for pointing it out.

Yup, that's the program the employer has opted in to for my plan. No idea if anyone with UHC can use it or not.

Today is the first day with their tracker thing. We'll see how it goes!

We have wellness requirements, and if we do not complete them in the plan year, we have to pay more towards our portion of the health insurance premium. We have a choice of like 8 things, each having a certain point value, and you must get 100pts. Our choices are:

2 dietician visits

60 gym visits or related activity that can be tracked via a device

getting glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol levels checked

nutrition savings program (links grocery card to give you credits for buying fresh produce)

Phone or online health coaching sessions with Insurance health coach

dental check-up

Complete smoking cessation program

Hubby has to do it to. It easy for me to complete since most of this is part of my every day life now-- and I'm interested in keeping my out of pocket costs down.

Wow, that's pretty comprehensive! I don't like the punitive nature of it, I'd rather see an incentive plan, but it's also sort of cool. Do they offer $$ toward gym membership? Or.. time off work? (lol, right?)
