Does anyone make their own grain-free granola? What's your favorite recipe? I plan to experiment!

I buy it. KItchfix has good ones. It might be fun to try to make it sometime though!

it was always too many carbs and no protein for me ,esp during the losing stage.

Grain-free granola shouldn't have many carbs at all.

looking at two different recipes from Chef Google:

coconut

almonds

pecans,walnuts,chia seeds,flax seed meal,coconut sugar,salt,coconut oil,maple syrup

1/4 cup serving

cals 218. Fat 18.5. Sugar 4.8. Carbs 10.6 pro 6.2

more carbs thsugar an protein is always not good

second recipe

pepitas,sunflower seed,coconut,almonds,pecans,dates,coconut oil,

cals 499. Sugar 15. Carbs 25. Pro 10.

this recipe has more carbs in one serving, which I couldn't find the serving amount, than I ate in a whole day while losing.

these were the first two recipes listed in my search.

The majority of those carbs would come from coconut sugar and dates. I would like to think that any recipe someone would post would take that into account. The recipe that Cyndy posted would have little to no carbs, using only nuts. My point was it doesn't have to to be high carb and therefore can certainly fit into a Bari diet.

quoting Cindy in her post," the problem is, this is so good it's hatd to control." Another potential problem.

The op just asked for recipes. I have been around long enough to see many many recipes posted for every dish, that are not bariatric friendly.

I just take a mix of whatever nuts and seeds I want first I start by toasting them in my cast iron skillet in some coconut oil, then I add sugar free syrup (Like Jordan's or Torani) and let it bubble until it evaporates mostly then lay out on a cookie sheet to dry.

For cinnamon sugar version I also sprinkle on Swerve (erythritol) and cinnamon and stir before I take it off heat.

I do this both with single nut varieties as well as mixes. Problem is it is so damn good it is hard to control. My warning. I made a lot of this for gifts this Christmas.
