Jicama looks kind of like a brown, round, slightly muddy potato. It's very delicious and crispy when cut finely into straws for a salad. You can check around the 'Latin foods' section of produce. It's usually close to the plantains.
Thanks! I live in a small city and we don't have any Latin or Asian sections, unfortunately. One grocery store sometimes brings in different items in produce so I'll keep a look out there. I'd love to try it.
