World Health Organization Redefines Old
As long as they don't expect us to wor****il 80, I can live with that. I am over 50 , but feel much younger. Not having children and having goofy partner probably helps.

You are right about them probably expecting people to wor****il 80 or older. Retirement age was supposedly set at 65 years old because the average worker in the 1800's never reached that age. Those who did generally died a year or so after.
The idea was to give workers a year off before they died.
Now people retire with another 35 or 40 years to live.
I can see this being used as a basis for delaying social security until 80.

I hope they don't use this as an excuse to delay social security or medicare/medicaid.
These stats look like something for people who have had good nutrition most of their life & access to quality health care & little stress.
I'd rather think of retirement as the start of my 2nd life. It's nice to think mentally I'll still be young but my body might have other ideas by that point.

I am sure this information will be used to delay retirement benefits. Not for us, but for generations to come. A ten year old child today has about a 30% chance of living to 100. Hopefully they will be strong and independent at 65 and not preparing for retirement.
Our bodies begin aging at about 30, but with advances in medicine, quality of life and nutrition, that process should be slowed even more than it is today. Many major diseases will eventually be wiped out and our bodies will be healthier and stronger.
I was looking at Jane Fonda at 80
She does not look like she is ready to lie down and give up. I want to get stronger and healthier every year.

She looks great! She also has a ****load of money & spent a lot of her time in her youth working out & being on top of her health/looks which is so much easier when you have money, not so much when living check to check. Or in some cases, no check.

Correct - being old and healthy tends to require a certain amount of privilege. :/
