Quick Question on the Morning of Surgery
I WAS allowed by my pre-op liquid diet to drink Gatorade, the regular kind. Last night I finished off about a cup before midnight.
Woke up and my fasting blood sugar (Type 2 Diabetes) was 118. Do I need to take my Kwikpen 75/25 insulin or leave it alone?
Anyone who has been through this rodeo, please advise! Will call surgeon's office, too.
Call your surgeon AND maybe the doctor you regularly see for your diabetes (endocrinologist or PCP).
personally I think you're fine without it, and since you won't be eating, taking it might cause you to crash later. But again, call and ask!

Thank you for the support, anyway! I called the surgeon's office and they told me that because I was on a high dose of insulin (60 units of Humalog 75/25 three times a day!) It will take some time for my blood sugar to regulate itself. I'm now post-op and looking forward to the days of no more insulin!
I'm awaiting approval currently and am hoping for the same :) good luck!!

You can do it! I am AMAZED by the weight loss so far...I was 390 at my HIGHEST WEIGHT ever, 375 around consult, lost 10 pounds as required by surgeon pre-op, and this morning the scale says 344.2! I'm so thrilled!
That's fantastic!
