I have a surgery date! + Day of Surgery ?
I have a surgery date! It's in less than five days on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 and I am super excited! (and nervous)
I still don't know what time my surgery will happen (should find out tomorrow) but the plan is for my sister to take me to the hospital. The problem is, she has work at 2 PM, and she took a bunch of time off for the holidays and they are super understaffed + she needs the money. This shouldn't be a problem as far as getting to the hospital, but IDK if I'll be out of surgery before she'd need to get to work. My roommate is having dental work done the same day, so she's unavailable, and my parents all live several hours away + are dealing with my new nephew and have their hands full. So it's looking like there will potentially be nobody around when I get out of surgery. :/
Other than this being a bit of a bummer, do any of you think this is potentially problematic? My hospital had me watch some videos that implied that having an advocate there for you who can speak to issues if you're not feeling up to it could be beneficial. I can totally ask some of these people to rearrange things to be there for me, I just feel a bit weird about asking such a big/inconvenient thing from them. Which, maybe I just need to get over that and tell family that I need them there, but I also know that I'll be stressing about the inconvenience, which isn''t exactly good, either...any thoughts?

So, I slept a lot after surgery... my husband was there for me, as well as another friend, but honestly, I slept. I also had my surgery done at a Bariatric Center of Excellence, and they are well equipped and have superb nurses/care. If I had been alone after surgery, I would have been OK.
Can someone come by after work?
You will be OK, I would guess, but it is nice to have some support, even if you don't remember seeing them.

Thanks for your response! Yeah, the support is definitely nice. My sister might still be around when I first get out, and I think I'll be set.

Great! That's what I figured. And yes, my best friend is coming down the next day to take me home and hang out with me for a few days before she flies home, and I live with somebody, so they'll also be around to help if I need it.

That's good to know! That's kind of what I figured will be the case, but I thought I'd check! :)

Yeah my husband was there after mine, and he never just "sits" he's always outside or in the garage working on something and he binge watched an entire series on Netflix like our 19 year old does while we were there since he had no choice but to sit. lol~
I was brought to my room at 10am and wasn't even lucid enough to talk to him until probably 2pm. lol. And then I still slept off and on until probably 8 that night.
I didn't send him home though b/c the hospital was a little over an hour from our house and i knew I would be discharged the next day.
Good Luck as well!! I bet you're currently in surgery now!
