Vox article today summarizes latest studies on WLS
I just read a newspaper quote from over a century ago, about another unintelligent president and an equally ignorant cabinet. It read "In the history of the White House has there has never been so much intellect gathered around one table, not since Thomas Jefferson dined alone."
6'3" tall, male.
Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.
M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.
I enjoyed this article too... though I hate that they used a burger & fries and a scalpel photo. We know (because we live it) that obesity has behavioral, psychosocial, biological, & environmental causes... showing a burger & fries is stigmatizing (overeating fast food/blame/shame) and simplifies a complex multifactorial chronic disease. It's like an article about lung cancer having someone with a cigarette dangling from their mouth... sure some people get lung cancer from smoking but many others have never picked up a cigarette in their lives. I know some people think ehhh get over it, whatever... but as funding is cut or decisions are made about coverage for treatments, public opinion about who or what is to blame for obesity becomes more of an issue... pictures tell stories.
Anyway... getting off my soapbox (LOL for now) I tweeted to them ;)
Here's another VOX article that I enjoyed, regarding why you shouldn't exercise to lose weight, explained with 60+ studies.
