What multi vitamins do you take? My bottle is almost empty from the pharmacy and its past time to choose.

I used the search feature and didn't see anything newer than 2011. My apologies if this is something that's asked too often.

I take Centrum silver or the store brand equivalent-2 a day ( one AM & one PM. )

I take a separate iron supplement because the iron in the regular Centrum doesn?t agree with my system. I take 1 Feosol Carbonyl iron caplet each night with 500 mg of Vit C.

I have 3 Calcium citrate chews per day. I use Bariatric Advantage 500 mg chews. It also contains 500 mg Vit D3.

I take an additional 5,000 IU of dry Vit D3 five days a week. Doses will depend on your labs. I take the dose I do to sustain a level of 75.

I take 2,000 mcg of sublingual Vit B 12 daily. Again, dose depends on B12 level per my labs.

The iron and calcium have to be taken at least two hours away from each other, and caffeine can affect how much of each you will absorb, so time your supplements accordingly.

Doses of supplements might change according to labs drawn. When my D3 level dipped a couple of years ago, I upped the dose-when it was too high-I lowered it slightly and finally found the sweet spot. Iron doses also vary person to person.

ETA: some people also take additional magnesium, K2, potassium or other supplements depending on their lab numbers. A lot of us here keep an eye on our labs year to year and notice trends up or down. That way we stay on top of potential deficiencies developing and can nip them in the bud.

Yes to what Audrey said--finding the right combo has everything to do with reading your labs and determining what your specific needs are beyond the multi!

I am using a combination of WebMD patches and EZ Melts under the tongue vitamins. Currently I take:

  • EZ Melts Multi (2/day)
  • EZ Melts Iron (6/day)
  • EZ Melts D3 (3/day)
  • EZ Melts B12 (1/day)
  • WebMD Patch Multi (5/week)
  • WebMD Patch Iron (1/day)
  • WebMD Patch D3 (3/week)
  • Magnesium & Potassium (as needed if I have cramps)

I have had my labs checked every 3 - 6 months since surgery and I am doing great on everything except for iron. I have taken a million different combinations of different types of iron and my Ferritin just won't stay above 20 with vitamins alone. I am hoping to convince someone to give me an infusion, but so far no luck.

I'm only a month since surgery and forgot that to the new me, and to all of us, "vitamins" means a lot more than a multi. I was actually wondering what multi you all choose but got a reminder that the multi is just a small part of the program that Ill be following for the rest of my life. Thank you and my apologies for the newbie poorly worded question.

My calcium has been perfect so whatever is in the two multis I'm taking is enough at the moment.
