Throwing food away

This struggle is REAL. My husband was sleeved in April and me in October and OMG, we have cut our grocery bill by so much. We eat a ton of leftovers to get rid of the food. We mostly do not make alternate meals for the rest of the family. Occasionally some pasta or bread for them, but mostly they eat what we eat and it's been fine. We also "donate" leftovers a couple times a week to my 22 year old daughter who lives on her own. WIN WIN.

Also, when we go out to eat..we normally split something and no alcohol so the bill is CHEAP!

It's good though, that you are seeing the pattern and trying to find healthy ways to avoid getting back into old patterns.

Great topic!

Throwing food away it has been always my issue. Wasting food= wasting money. Then I though about it- and since I was a self paid, plus PS, I can come up with cost of a pound of fat loss. I spend app $50K on my RNY and PS to lose 110 lbs. That is app $450 per pound of fat. When I consider throwing food away - I ask myself - is the food I need to get rid of worth more than $450? = 1 lb of gained fat. I see the leftovers as much less waste than me gaining even 1 pound. (unless I need to gain it)

My mantra is that I can "waste" it -- or I can "waist" it -- add it to my waist

I do learn to make less --- lots of times, my husband eats too much just because it is there and if I made a little less, he would eat what we have - and eat more veg or fruit --- which is healthier anyway.
