Test predicts diabetes remission with WLS

I found this interesting article in my news feed this morning.

https://medicalxpress.com/news/2017-11-simple-diabetes-remis sion-weight-loss.html

I like that there seems to be an indicator whether or not WLS is likely to cause remission from Type 2 Diabetes.

What concerns me is that some are calling for this to be used in determining who will get WLS and not. Diabetes is not the only co-morbidity with obesity, so whether or not T2D remission is likely shouldn't determine whether or not someone gets WLS. I get that the UK health system has limited resources especially for WLS and needs some way to prioritize patients, but I feel this is the wrong approach.

Thanks for sharing this. I like how it talked about realizing the need for better AFTERCARE, and how the A1C numbers could/would go back up, with weight regain

Interestingly, I would have scored very poorly on the DiaBetter score indicators -- and yet I am in complete remission.
