Mariah Carey had gastric sleeve surgery
I'm not a Mariah fan, in fact I'd rather listen to a bag of feral cats rolling down a steep hill than hear that Christmas song of hers again, and I don't have anything against cats or steep hills. She just drives my ears crazy, and I'm not sure if it's just her music, her voice, or her diva persona, or a combination effect. I just don't see the talent or flicker of musical intelligence.
Having said that, she's an artist I almost feel sorry for (especially in recent years) and I do hope she finds a way to happiness. Simply my observation, but she doesn't seem to have that, despite a brave facade. I have my doubts that she's received the education that is so valuable to be successful with WLS of any sort. If that's the case, this surgery won't bring her happiness, unless there's just no need in her heart to be anything but what appears on the outside. Not knowing her personally, I can't say for sure where her head is at but I do wish her well in turning things around.
I hope she does really well, and is a 'good' representative for the WLS community. We need some good celebrity people to represent us... unlike Momma June or whatever her name is.
I feel like the more positive publicity for WLS, the better.
So I wish her the best of luck, and who knows, maybe she'll find our little board and learn how to do this Right! (someone tweet this place to her!)

When she first started out (1990? 1991?) she was quite thin. So this doesn't surprise me a bit. But what is surprising, I think in a good way, is that she is being honest about having had surgery. It seems like most public people who go the surgery route won't admit it.
It will be interesting to peek in on her in five years or so and see if she's had any re-gain.
Dang, pard .. looks like I got scooped on this story by almost 24 hours .. How did you get it so early? It was just released on AOL News ..
Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "
HW/461 LW/251 GW/189 CW/274 (yep, a DS semi-failure - it happens :-( )
