First Thanksgiving
I was about a month out for my first Thanksgiving and already on solid foods. I ate a bite of everything I liked. It's all I had room for and I enjoyed every second of it. Deprivation is bad news for me, so I learned to indulge strategically (like the last bites after protein).
I'm 12 yrs post op, and this is still my practice. I eat protein first, then veggies, then enjoy a bite or two of the not-so-great stuff, but I never avoid it.

I wouldn't bother to make a separate special dessert. Remember that holidays now should be about the company and not fussing over food. One bit of the dessert of others is fine. Or take a little sugar free pudding cup and mix it with an equal amount of GY for a cheesecake like dessert. Good and no work.
My first Thanksgiving was about 10 days after surgery. I just stayed in bed and ignored it and hubby went to his sister's house. That worked for those who are early on but its not the only option. Enjoy the holiday. Diane S
The other night I was craving pumpkin pie. I took the Dannon L&F pumpkin yogurt and mixed in 1 TBSP of cheesecake SF Pudding mix and 1/2oz of crushed pecans and topped with Rediwhip. It was a fantastic fall dessert!
