WOO-FLIPPIN-HOO!!!
Just got back from seeing the surgeon and I have a date!!! I go in on 11-29 for my egd, go back on 12-11 for pre-op with the surgeon, then go in for surgery on 12-13!!!!! OMG I'm so excited, but I'm also nervous! I've been waiting 20 years for this, and its finally going to happen! I think I'm in shock, because this was almost too easy!!! I just wish my husband was alive to see it!! I miss you, honey, and I believe you're looking down and watching out for me!! Let the good times roll!!!
Congrats!

That's awesome news! I also had surgery in mid-December, four years ago. I refer to that December as "the month I didn't chew" since I was on a two week liquid diet before surgery and a two week liquid diet after surgery. The liquid diet before RNY is tough, I am not going to lie...since your stomach is still the size of a football and you are trying to live on protein shakes and sugar-free jello and soup broth. Plus, the holidays are coming up and everyone is having cookie exchanges and going to holiday parties. BUT STICK IT OUT! I was able to lose 12 lbs in those two weeks, underwent a successful and safe surgery, healed quickly and stuck to my plan. If you start to feel sorry for yourself about why everyone can eat and drink galore around Christmas, just think about how you have had more than your fair share of food ;) If you follow your plan, you can have great success with RNY, and any tough moments this coming December are only a small blip on the radar as you head towards feeling so much healthier and more energetic. Good luck!
