I currently take a probiotic but I have used papaya in the past and it did work well but that was before WLS.

Hi there

I use prebiotics (you can make at home kefir, kombucha,) and probiotics. The combination has been a godsend.

Like you i have dropped dairy and was struggling with protein shakes even pea protein ones. I actually found a great prebiotic protein shake and have one a day with a probiotic and within a couple weeks of starting i felt like my life was finally mine again :) The brand is Amazonia Raw. Some people don't like the gritty taste (all natural, raw ingredients) but I don't notice it and the payoff has been huge. If you can't find that brand I'm sure there are others but I do rate it.

My stomach still can't handle a lot of digestive aids or capsules so if that is the case with you (I hope not!) this might be something that helps.

Wishing you all the best

Thank you for the recommendation, I am sure going to give this protein a try, the kambucha doesn't agree with my stomach, i purchased some kefir today and felt some relief.

Thank you so much!

No ...I do not post DS. I want malabsorption.

Digestive enzymes put the enzymes to break down food (protein, fat, etc) before it gets to your common channel (DSers have very short common channels). Taking the enzymes would increase food digestion and the calories being absorbed.

No thank you

I had a gastric bypass in 1995 I just found out that my pancreas enzymes aren't working so put me on a new medication. Years ago we didn't get the help that's available for the pre and post surgery so I didn't know but I wouldn't change having this surgery for anything. I lost 200 lbs. From 380 down to 180. I follow my dirt and don't gain more than 20 to 25 lbs in the winter but still working on that as I am 205 now but still trying to get down to 150lbs

I had the Gastric sleeve last September, I had a lot of nausea and GERD post surgery. I tried some things the doctor prescribed all of which helped little. I tried Digestive Enzymes and to my surprize the nausea and the gerd were both minimized. When the nausea comes on after i've eaten i take the digestive enzymes (sometimes i take it before I eat) and within 30 min it is gone. The GERD is not gone but it is minimal not to a point that i no longer take any of the PPI family of medication.
