CPAP issue
I'm 8 days post op and I've been having a heck of a time with my cpap. The machine is blowing air down into my esophagus, causing me to burp all night long, which blocks air flow and wakes me up. I haven't had a decent night's sleep since surgery.
II left a message with my sleep doc, maybe the pressure needs to be adjusted? I also ordered a new mask as mine's pretty stretched and is leaking a lot.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on what could be causing it?

A leaky mask can definitely cause this problem. I dealt with a similar situation when trying a new kind of mask that didn't seal properly on my face; getting a better fit made a world of difference.
If that doesn't help, then maybe adjusting the pressure would work. If you google your machine's model number, you can figure out how to adjust it on your own, but be careful if you decide to take that route.

Yes, thanks for asking.
My new mask finally arrived and no more burps. I mentioned it to the CPAP tech and she had heard of it, and suspected it was the machine increasing pressure to accommodate for the leaks. As soon as I?m feeling normal again I?ll go for another sleep study. Yay.
