Protein Shake Suggestions?
Good evening all!
So, pre op and now post op I was doing great with the Premier Protein shakes. The vanilla became very bland very fast to me, and the caramel I couldn't even swallow. I loved the chocolate one and I thought it tasted like chocolate milk, but lately I cannot for the life of me drink them down. It's almost like when I had to drink milk of magnesia, thats how they make me feel lol.
I do drink Premier Protein Clear drinks, which are 20g of protein per bottle. But I need something else in my daily regime.
I've followed some fellow VSG'ers on Insta and I saw one of them trying out ProteinShakeBar? They are sweetened with stevia, GF, and all that jazz. So I think I'll give it a whirl.
Anyone else have any other recommendations for protein shakes?
There are tons of options out there. I like Optimum Nutrition double rich chocolate mixed with unsweetened almond milk.

I haaate the sweet dessert style drinks, so I feel you. Syntrax Fuzzy Navel and Roadside Lemonade are great options. I mix with water and a package of Crystal Light. They also have a couple of coffee flavors that I mix with my morning decaf.
Syntrax Nectar has 17 different flavors. Buy the sample packets from Amazon and try out the different flavors to find one that you like. I particularly like Fuzzy Navel, Roadside Lemonade, and Cappuccino, but there are alot of different options.

Chike high protein iced coffee shake was my go-to for like a year and a half! I got it on Amazon.
Also make sure you check out Shelly's World According to Eggface recipes - she is awesome (and a member here) and she has tons of ideas to jazz up shakes: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2014/04/eggfa ce-favorite-protein-shakes-and.html
I used to drink Premier Protein shakes 1-2 times a day as a meal replacement pre-surgery. Now if I drink half of one it upsets my stomach. I do still use them as my coffee creamer at work, using about 1/6 a drink at a time. I find I really like the Unjury chocolate Splendor especially with Pb2 in it. Also am quite fond of the Syntrax Nectar. You can get a sample pack directly from the company for like $18, that's the cheapest place to get them.
From Syntrax's website "We are currently offering a one time only, limit one per person special on the Nectar® 'Variety Sampler' containing 15 full serving packets. The price is $15 plus $1.99 shipping and handling ($11.99 to Canada); a total of $16.99. Please allow 1-3 weeks for processing and delivery. If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please give us a call at 866-333-7403 x 819. Our hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm Central time."
I love the taste of gold standard. Their delicious strawberry and banana creme pie flavors taste like a dessert but have 140 calories and 3 g carb when made with water. Ps they taste good when made with jus****er

Three pounds below Goal!!! Yay !
Have you tried the Bananas and Cream flavor of Premier Protein? That is the only one out of all their flavors that I like. In the beginning I used unflavored(still some taste to them) protein powder in almond milk and added 2 Tbsp. of PB2 powder, it's not sweet and was easier for me to drink. I hope something works out for you.
Lots of the ones I love have been mentioned above, lots of low-calorie/carb things to jazz them up if you get a plain flavor too. Some more recipes https://www.pinterest.com/eggface/protein-shakes-and-smoothi es/
Ohh make pudding too with those Premier's http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2016/07/premi er-protein-shakes-5-unexpected.html they are delicious that way and way more fun than shakes ;)
