Kathy S - WLS Journey - So this is what they call normal?
December 18, 2005
Wow, Christmas I am normal. I know what is normal, but I don't worry about my eating. Every holiday I would look forward to all the sweets and baking goodies for my family. And while I am doing it feeling guilty for baking it and eating it. This is the first Christmas I am not eating "anything" I shouldn't . And concentrating on working out as I am, I know I can take in enormous amounts of cals and not gain. (I was body building).
I am hovering between 120 and 123 right now. I JUST LOVE IT! I can feel myself getting stronger and putting on the muscle for my PS.
I go to see Dr. Fenner this Tuesday. Can't wait to leave there with a clear idea of what will be done and also what I have to pay. I guess there are hidden expenses that insurance doesn't pay for.
Well, I want to check the boards out and see if there is anyone out there that can use a helping hand. I feel those of us that have lost owe it to our OH family to help. Paying it forward!
Oh by the way the shirt I had made with my before picture and the words NEVER AGAIN, you guys have got to get one. The reaction you get is fantastic and a great reminder of where you have come from and that you NEVER WILL GO BACK.
Take care,
Kathy
Updated thoughts - every holiday was such a stressor for me and it had to do with guilt for all I had eaten and was going to eat. It was the center of my every waking moment and I am sure I dreamed of food. It was like the world was lifted off my shoulders so busy enjoying life and doing other things besides eating. Try it, you guys will LOVE IT! Getting ready to have plastics in 2005 I was eating almost 3000 cals a day. Yes you read that right. I was body building and if I dropped my intake below that I would lose 5 pounds in a week. It's your turn

This is great! Thanks so much for sharing.
I've just added weight lifting (not body building) to my physical fitness plan. I'm lifting two nights a week right now, on the PM side of the days I run in the mornings. My basic workout plan is to Run/Lift on Monday/Wednesday (run before work, lift after) - Swim/Bike on Tuesdays and Thursdays (where biking is my 10 mile round trip work commute.) Ideally I'd like to bike to work every day but weather and off site meetings will often prevent that.
How long did you do the body building work? Did you have any weight regain issues when you stopped?

I hit it hard for about 8 months. When I had the skin removed I wanted to make sure I got the best results. No, I stayed at goal for over 10 years. Had a 60 pound regain in 2014/2015 when my husband was sick and passed away. It took me awhile but I got it off.
