Menopause???
Hi Kim,
It didn't create a problem for me. I was still able to maintain and did not gain. I stuck with the eating and moving rules of my life, expecting to have to adjust but it never happened. So it does not have to be a nightmare.
But then again I am sure there are others that may have a different experience. Good Luck

I was post menopausal when I started the process for RNY. I lost 50 pounds in my year prep for surgery, and 110 pounds in the year following surgery. So while it felt like I was a slow loser at the time, looking back, I think I was pretty average. I don 't think menopause made that big of a difference.

I was post menopause for my surgery and I've lost 120lbs in 11 months so I don't think it affected me either.

I was post menopausal when I had surgery and it didn't slow my losing down. This is a metabolic surgery as well and definitely helped my metabolism.

A few months after RNY I went into instant menopause. Originally I was planning to go through it the "natural way", no HRT. But my summons were so severe, that after 2 months of pure misery, and feeling like a I was losing my mind, I decide to do HRT. It took me at least 6 months to get stable, and feel like myself again. I tried to get off them s few times, but my severe symptoms returned, so for now I am on a small dose of hormones.
Fyi- a couple years later I was diagnosed with HPAA dis-regulation, and adrenal insufficiency. That may explain my severe hormonal symptoms.

I went into menopause at 51, completely! Before that I had very heavy, and long in duration periods.
I did not start to gain weight until these past few months. I noticed a spread in my hips and thighs, and just cutting back and doing infrequent exercise did not work any longer. Now I am running on my treadmill with increased inclines for just 20 minutes, trying really hard to get this "tool" to work for me.
My stomach and waist have increased in girth also. I am currently wearing a 12, weighing 186. I got down to about 160 in a year and rebound weight was about 170.
