Optifast after surgery.
Sure. In fact, having one or more protein shakes per day after surgery makes life a lot easier.
It doesn't need to be Opti. There are lots of other brands out there.

that was my understanding as well. I threw out my leftover opti (I had a lot because I was only on it for 9 days due to getting a cancellation for surgery).

Pre-Op=8.8lbs --- Optifast= 8.4 (was on it for 9 days due to cancellation)
M1 - 20.6... M2 -10.2... M3 -8.0... M4 -5.8... M5 -9.0... M6 -5.2... M7 -7.0... M8 -2.2... M9 -0.9... M10 -2.6... M11-0.6... M12-2.0
I could not do it. I sold mine.
Opti I got before surgery had 10 or 15 (15!!!) grams of carbs per serving. except the soups. Soups were ok. They also had milk concentrate and a lot of us discover lactose intolerance post op WLS.
I was told to keep my protein shakes within 5 gr of sugar/carbs per serving for every 20gr of proteins.

Too low in calories? The goal is to get our necessary protein while keeping calories as low as possible. Did you mean to say it is too high in calories?
