You know the doctor told me that when a FAT child athlete ( who by the way was a star among boys in every sport). At ten I hated my burgeoning apple shaped waist less body so much I went on a 300 calorie a diet - an apple plus a lean cuisine a day . I GaIned weight!!! Literally over three weeks . Then he told me couldn't help me ( duh)

I haven't dieted a day since thank God. That's why I still own a metabolism worth having. But I do know a good metabolism can be re-gained through daily muscle building exercise. Many of my clients have successfully done it.

The doc did actually tell me it would take a year for me to lose the weight, but he also said I'd be seeing the scale go down by now, and I haven't. I'm taking the advice of cutting back on carbs--waaay back, and I'll see what happens.

No one likes me lol! I'd care ( possibly ) if I wasn't so busy empire- building.

Yes I didn't drink the kool-aide I have way too much experience with organ-failing friends and friends dying from cancer to ignore the horrible advice some of us are getting and giving regarding stoopid high protein fad diets.

You are heard loud and clear! Be patient. Although I am no doctor, I know there are some adjustments and a couple checks that may help. Ask your doctor to check your cortisol/hormone levels. As we age our body changes and can make it difficult to lose weight. Also, stress and sleep have a playing factor too. In order to speed up your metabolism you need to make sure you are not starving your body. Small frequent meals and snacks are important to let your body know it will be fed and not go into starvation mode which slows down your metabolism. Also, for heart health they say a minimum of 10,000 steps a day.

I wish you luck and remember to love yourself and do things that make you happy. Good health starts with the mind. Wishing you a blessed day.

I wish you a lot of luck for losing your weight. I didn't read all of the posts in this thread since you've gotten so much good advice. My personal finding has been when my weight is being more stubborn and slow to come off, it is because I am not drinking enough water. If I forget to drink, my body holds everything I've eaten hostage and refuses to hand it over until it gets its list of demands filled (water).
