Exercise was the key for me. After surgery I put a bunch of weight back on. Once I made exercise a habit, i lost the weight again and have kept it off. Once exercise becomes a habit, you won't even think about doing it. It will just happen.

Walmart has what you need - either Premier Ready to Drink 4 packs (I just got a bunch at Costco for $5 off an 18 pack - sales ends in the next day or two I think). It's in the aisle with all the bars and Atkins. They also have Quest protein powders, which you might also like and are low carb.

You have to really look at the stuff that goes in your body. I had a friend recently swear to me that he was eating 1000 calories and gaining weight. When I finally had him dig into it, he wasn't counting several fat free products (somehow thinking that the calories didn't count) and maybe the biggest thing was the half box of prunes he ate per day to be regular. You need to count everything to figure out what is causing this odd weight situation.

Good luck

PS - I just remembered, he also didn't count condiments - are you? He didn't count the quarter bottle of salad dressing he was using every night with his veggies (claiming he couldn't eat them plain). I think he also used a lot of spray butter that says zero calories, but really only is that if you use 5 pumps. He didn't.

PSS - don't eat the protein bars as they aren't protein drink replacements. You shouldn't eat any of those for a long time (maintenance is a good suggestion by many here)

HW 510 / SW 424/ GW 175 (stretch goal to get 10 under) / CW 160 (I'm near the charts ideal weight - wonder if I can stay here)

Start counting carbs. My doctor wanted me to eat 30 carbs or less a day. Meat, fish, eggs and cottage cheese and 64 oz. of water a day.

You've made some great changes, and gotten some good advice. Like the others have said, eat mostly protein. You don't have to do the shakes only; you can just eat dense protein for every meal, and cut out starchy veggies, and most fruits. Berries have the lowest amount of carbs.

Plain Skyr or Greek yogurt has lots of protein and tastes great with a quarter cup of berries for breakfast. You can add some sugar free sweetener if you find the plain yogurt too bitter.

Great protein forward meals include steak, shrimp, chicken, extra lean burger patties with cheese, fish, crab, etc. It's very filling to eat this way and the weight will fall off once you reduce the carbs...try to aim for less than 30 grams per day since you're on a time crunch.

Swimming burns a lot of calories, if you can get to a pool, and it's easy on the joints.

I like myfitnesspal for tracking.

I had to do protein Optifast shakes only for 3 weeks prior to surgery and lost 23 Lbs. It's hard to just do shakes; I would have preferred to eat my protein.

Good luck; you can totally do this!
