DESPERATELY NEEDING HELP!!!!
Slimfast is not the best choice you are better with a protein shake. My surgeon's requirement was when shake was prepared not more than 200 calories 5g sugar and at least 20-10g protein. Protein will help with hunger. There are a million protein powders out there. Look for whey isolate on the ingredients. Try Syntrax brand. Also there are premade ones called Premier Protein- you can but them at walmart target, sam's, costco almost anywhere. They have good stats but won't be as filling as one you put in the blender with ice as a shake- especially because you are pre-op.
Best thing is reduce the carbs. 20-30 a day.

And...for lazy peeps... like ME...you can take the RTD ones, and put them in the blender, with ice, and PRETEND you made that great tasting thing, yourself!
Premier is my current fave...and Lord knows I've had a million different kinds!

Regular Slim Fast has 24 grams of carbs in one shake. 6 shakes would be about 1200 calories and 144 grams of carbs. Not great stats.
What is your typical diet?

Just remember that what you do now is an investment in keeping the weight off later. Looks like you are changing the way you eat and starting to move, but your weight should not be going up. If I were you, I would follow the food your dietician has given you. Each meal should include 3 oz of protein ..(YES, you need to weigh everything!) half cup of veggies and 1/4 cup of carb. This is the diet they will put you on when you have the surgery. You will have 3 meals like this everyday and then 1 oz of protein in between. TRUST ME when I say, if you do this now, you will lose weight!!!!! I am almost 2 years post RNY. In the first year I lost 201lbs and now am maintaining 225 weight loss. I still measure (almost everything) I still eat off of a little plate and dishes, I still weigh my protein. I take my premade food to work. It's no longer a diet ....it's just my life. Following what they tell you to do now is sooooooo vitally important to your success and your commitment to this new life. It's not just about losing the weight, it's about changing your thinking about yourself, your value and self worth. Also...up your exercise too. I can't stress enough your commitment. It's not a quick fix, I know someone who lost like 50lbs and then gained it all back after surgery. She never hit her goal. She was never committed to the change. Also...never think your "out of the woods". This is hard somedays more than others. But the freedom I have felt feels SO amazing and freeing! I hope I have encouraged you, although I'm being very frank about it. I just want everyone to be successful and believe you can do it! Hope this helps in some way!
I agree with others that the best way to reach your goal is to cut carbs. The other piece of advice I would add is to start tracking your food. I always find that tracking keeps me mindful of what I'm eating and what my goals are.

Are you SURE you're only taking in 1200 calories per day? Are you weighing and measuring your food? Do you log EVERY BITE, including nibbles and tastes?

For my 2 week pre-op liquid diet (to shrink my liver), I drank 4, maybe 5 (I cannot remember) Bariatric Advantage shakes a day and ate nothing else. I lost 20 pounds in that two weeks.
Stats are good. One shake has 150 calories, 27 grams of protein, 7 carbs, 1 sugar
